White Labelling
There’s a question that pops up every now and then since TeachKit was created; “Can I add my own logo to TeachKit?” The answer is the same as if you asked, “Can you add your own logo to YouTube?”
The Problem with Siloed Course Platforms
One of the biggest problems I’ve seen with many online course platforms is that they build silos for every individual teacher or creator. Each creator is completely responsible for converting their own audience into students—and that’s where the reach ends. If someone takes one class, there’s no simple way for that student to discover other teachers’ classes.
That’s a problem.
Why Discovery Matters
One of the things that made platforms like Skillshare and MasterClass so popular is that learners can browse across a wide range of topics. People rarely take just one course on one subject and call it a day. Learning is ongoing—it’s something that spans all kinds of interests, from fly fishing to painting to economics.
So, why would any teacher want to publish a course on a platform where their students have no easy way to discover other teachers’ classes?
If a student in your class can discover someone else’s class… the reverse is also true. Other creators’ students can find your class. Everyone wins. Teachers get more students, and students get access to a wider variety of subjects and styles.
The Catch with MasterClass and Skillshare
But here’s the catch:
MasterClass has an incredibly high bar—you’re not getting a course on there unless you’re already a celebrity. Skillshare, on the other hand, pays creators pennies per student and doesn’t let you connect your own Stripe account to set prices or keep a fair share of your revenue.
Why TeachKit Isn’t White-Labeled
That’s where TeachKit comes in.
TeachKit isn’t designed to be white-labeled because it isn’t meant to be a bunch of disconnected “mini-sites.” It was created to be a shared banner under which a wide range of teachers can publish. The goal is to make TeachKit a trusted, respected hub—a place students actually want to browse. A place where they can stumble onto your course, even if they didn’t know who you were five minutes ago.
Think of it like YouTube. You can’t slap your own logo on YouTube either—and there’s a reason for that. YouTube wants people to feel grounded in the platform they’re using. When you’re on YouTube, you know where you are, no matter whose video you’re watching.
TeachKit works the same way.
The Bigger Vision
And just like YouTube, you can build an audience on TeachKit—even if you’re starting from scratch. If your content is great and TeachKit’s discovery tools do their job, your course can reach people you’ve never met, people who aren’t on your email list or following you on social media.
That’s the vision:
A place where teachers of all sizes—big audiences, small audiences, or none at all—can share their knowledge. A place where students can learn anything from anyone, and creators can grow their audience, income, and impact.
No silos. No gatekeeping. Just teaching, learning, and discovery.
